Faces of loneliness

....comes in various shapes

semi-overcast 33 °C

circle

i sing the song of muted love,
i sway to the music of your fading melody-
i live, i learn, i weep, i die...
And yet, i chase the rainbow of your memory,
i trace the scent of your love---
in exile, i am, and i will be,
until i cross the ends of our road....
and maybe i will meet you again.

square

cobwebs curtained the four corners of my room,
silent expectators of the frozen tears,
i sleep all day, not wanting to wake up
i toss and turn in my bed of sorrow,

tomorrow....
perhaps,

i will find the courage to open my door,
greet the world outside with a merry heart,
i will dance in the rain,

maybe i will laugh and smile

again....

not myself

.....anymore

semi-overcast -17 °C

lost_in_you.jpg

Suppose I said
I am on my best behavior
And there are times
I lose my worried mind

Would you want me when Im not myself?
Wait it out while I am someone else?

Suppose I said
Colors change for no good reason
And words will go
From poetry to prose

Would you want me when Im not myself?
Wait it out while I am someone else?

And i, in time, will come around
I always do for you

Suppose I said..
Youre my saving grace

Would you want me when Im not myself?
Wait it out while Im someone else?

Would you want me when Im not myself?
Wait it out while Im someone else?

....The Things That Make Us Happy

sunny -17 °C

measuring_20happiness.gif

Here is a good read.....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Happiness is stubborn; hard to find, difficult to augment. Circumstances under our control (employment, education, money) account for only about 10 to 15 percent of our "subjective well-being," the technical term for how good we judge life to be.

Happiness is largely due to personality traits and temperament; the torments or glories of fate don't make a huge difference in how we feel. When it comes to subjective well-being, "you don't get a big bang out of the real world," says Alex Michalos of the University of Northern British Columbia.

But if you're determined to optimize that 10-15 percent that’s in your control, our happiness fact list offers a few clues, that are based on multiple studies.

Hint: Enjoy the little things; being pleased frequently has more influence on well-being than being intensely happy once in a while.

Beauty

beauty.jpg

People like pretty. Good looks help your popularity and, by extension, your career; both boost mood. But pulchritude on its own doesn't do much good.

Money

Money-Print-C10055084.jpg

If you're poor, money does make a difference. But above a threshold of about $40,000 a year, more won't make you happier. Comparisons, though, influence your state of mind: No matter how much or how little you make, doing better than your neighbor will make you feel better.

Education

education.jpg
In the 1950s, book learning brought happiness, but a college education no longer lifts well-being on its own. Education opens the door to a better career, but it also fosters higher expectations that may be disappointed.

Youth

teens.jpg
Young people are more aware of bad news and negative emotions than are the elderly. Aging seems to bias us toward the positive, despite more fragile health and finances; that may be because we've come closer to reaching our goals.

Religion

religion.jpg
Surprisingly, churchgoers get only a small lift from the Lord. The cause: faith fosters both community ties and social networks, which are both known to make people happier.

Free Time

free_time.gif
Well-spent leisure time can lead to great leaps in happiness: Activities that combine socializing and physical activity and require some moderate skills are the best (think salsa!). Most of us spend a lot of our leisure time watching TV, which can be relaxing; but we'd be happier if we just went bowling. Don't envy your laid-off friends; while the unemployed have more time, most have little active leisure, which is one of the reasons they're so unhappy.

Narcissism

i_love_mys..matters.jpg
High self-esteem protects against psychological suffering, and a little bit of narcissism is good for your mood: People with abundant self-love are less likely to be depressed, lonely or anxious.

Social Skills

friends.jpg
Friendship is one of life's main joys. Due to novelty, spending time with friends lifts your mood more than spending time with family. Being cooperative and knowing how to chat up the opposite sex are also associated with happiness.

Sense of Humor

sense_of_humor.jpg
Not taking things so seriously can bring hope and happiness. People with a hopeful outlook tend to also be good at laughing.

Volunteering

In one study, volunteer and charity work generated more joy than anything except dancing. The sense of accomplishment, the social connection and the chance to do something meaningful are what make it so much fun.

“It is the confession, not the priest, that gives us absolution”
Oscar Wilde

It is true.
I am a good liar.
I am a bitch.
and yet i hate liars and bitches,
but that doesnt mean,
I hate myself.

I hate working all day,
and chirping the "Thank you for calling, How may I help you", spiel
like a chick on a string and yet i can't afford to lose my job.
I hate doing what i kept doing for the past two years,
and yet I am not ready to trade my boring tranquility
for sporadic and temporary thrills.
I hate washing the dishes yet i love to eat.
I hate waking up when sleeping is a luxury for me.
but never waking up at all is also scary.
I hate to pay my credit card bills after a "devil may care" shopping spree.
and yet i will continue to spend lavishly on unnecessary frills.

abstract-couple.jpg

I confess.
I find sex therapeutic and i never tire of it.
I have my own share of wild fantasies.
Some are fantasies no more, while most will remain wishes.

I find men who plays the guitar sexy.
I also enjoy looking at sexy women.
I am not a lesbian nor a pervert.

I hate pretending to be happy when i am not.
and I also am a hopeless romantic.

I admit....
I still am a little child inside,

Kent_chicks.jpg

I love presents and the Christmas season.
I love chocolates, cakes and ice creams.
I love a fairy tale with happy endings.
I still gaze at stars at night and make a wish.
I love the rain and it's wonderful scent on a summer day.
and sometimes on days like this-
i am haunted with the chicken or the egg causality dilemma.

and so i ask again,
"which came first, the chicken or the egg?"

I am...yes I am

...a travel agent

sunny -17 °C

world-traveller.jpg

It is a busy Wednesday. It is 3:42 in the morning and we are wide awake servicing 75% of the world's travellng public.

We are your travel agents. We take care of your flight reservations, book hotel rooms, process ticket changes, share your excitement as you plan a week-long honeymoon trip to the Carribeans. We even listen to your sob stories.

To the frequent travellers who know a thing or two about an airline's basic ticketing policy , we are superheroes after we process a ticket exchange without any penalty- however to some (and I say, majority of travellers) treat us like criminals when we insist that,

"No, Mr Smith. We cannot do a series of somersaults just because you want us to".

(speaking of course in a metaphoric point of view). We've been called names from sweetheart and angel to bitch, heartless, brute, a*shole, blah, blah blah.

traveller.jpg

We are the loyal confidant of a philandering husband when he reserve a vacation package for him and his mistress in Los Cabos, Mexico. And yes, we will book a hotel located in a nudist camp for homosexual lovers and we will do it with discretion. If we get lucky, probably Brangelina will call for assistance regarding a flight reservation to Cambodia.

Crazy_Asia..keup_05.jpg

Well, that is our life. A college friend once exclaimed feverishly,

"Hey, you must visit Vienna, It is a paradise! Or probably go skinny dipping in Brazil! There are a lot of hot single men lying naked everywhere!!!"

(Between you and me)

I practically know everything about travel and yet i haven't really gone anywhere. I haven't updated my passport in two years. Funny you might say, because I am a travel agent. I will still envy the jetsetters even if they are stranded somewhere in Timbuktu. Probably their exotic vacation went awry because of flight delays and lost luggages. They may even ungratefully slam the phone down after a hellish hour of reaccomodating them new flights but hey at the end of the day, they are on their fabulous vacations while i sit here working my ass off and waiting for my shift to end =)
